WLNS

At WLNS in Lansing, MI, I covered the stories that make local news so necessary and impactful. I reported on the country’s initial anti-lockdown defiance when thousands gathered outside the Michigan Capitol to protest pandemic-related measures. Following the death of George Floyd, I covered social injustice protests and days of reckoning on racism. I reported on the group of 13 men accused of plotting to storm the State capitol building and kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer. I dove deep into national immigration stories and followed a group of about 100 Michiganders to the nation's capital where they urged Congress to pass an immigration reform.

Spanish-language news reporting

I spearheaded Michigan's Spanish-language coronavirus news coverage through a 5 minute newscast that I produced, wrote and anchored.

During the height of the pandemic the 'Spanish Update' aired daily before switching to a weekly format. The initiative was a success and the webcast was also shared with the Nexstar-affiliated television station in Grand Rapids.

Here is a montage of some of my award-winning work.
